Sweden Admitted Why There Will be no Sanctions Against Nord Stream 2
The recording of the conversation was posted on the prankers' YouTube channel.
“Volkov” tells Linde that they have spoken to some of its German partners "about pressure on the Russian government to stop the construction of Nord Stream 2".
The minister admitted that the majority in the Swedish parliament wants the authorities to impose sanctions on Nord Stream 2 on Monday.
"But from our side, these will be sanctions against Germany, Austria, Belgium and Holland, whose companies finance and build Nord Stream 2. And we must focus on sanctions against Russia. We do not want sanctions against Germany", - she said.
If it was possible to stop the project earlier, it would be a different matter, said Linde.
"But now we will never have a unified position about stopping Nord Stream 2. This means that this will only show a split within the EU which will weaken the EU and strengthen Russia. And this is not the best in the current situation. We need a strong one, a single message from the EU to Russia. And if we raise the issue of Nord Stream 2, it will never gain a majority, because the sanctions will be directed against companies from the EU, "the minister said.
