OREANDA-NEWS A diplomatic source in the European Union shared with the Internet portal Euractiv the opinion that the EU has approached the limit in the issue of anti-Russian sanctions, TASS reported.

According to him, if the decision to embargo Russian oil has caused such confusion among the allies, the reaction to the proposal to ban imports of Russian gas promises to be even worse.

He added that the EU member states have even "taken a step back," although there has been progress in negotiations with Hungary to override the veto on the embargo on Russian oil imports.

Earlier, EU diplomatic chief Josep Borrell said the sixth package of sanctions against Russia again could not be agreed because of disputes over the terms of the embargo on Russian oil. Discussions will continue at the level of permanent representatives of EU countries. According to Borrell, the discussion will take "another week or two.
