OREANDA-NEWS Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov considers hopes for the launch of Nord Stream-2 rash, according to a Gazeta.ru article.
"In the current circumstances, it would be rash and unpromising to pin hopes on this, given such a short-sighted position of our partners in the project, first of all Germany. Nevertheless, the infrastructure of this project is ready," he said at the briefing.
The Kremlin spokesman added that the pipeline will remain at the bottom of the sea in working condition for some time.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Nord Stream - 2 is unlikely to be launched in the near future. According to him, the project was frozen "for political reasons.
"Nord Stream - 2" assumed the construction of two strands of the pipeline with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the coast of Russia through the Baltic Sea to Germany - from the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region to Greifswald.
