OREANDA-NEWS Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the Kremlin is not aware of the plans of the G7 and the European Union to transfer frozen Central Bank assets to Ukraine to help rebuild the country, according to Gazeta.ru.
Peskov did not specify what retaliatory measures the Russian Federation would take, but stressed that the provision of frozen finances would be "actually a direct theft.
Earlier, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said he was "politically open" to the idea of seizing the Russian Central Bank's assets abroad.
Prior to this, the head of the German Foreign Ministry, Annalena Berbokottom, noted that it would not be easy to transfer the frozen Russian assets in the FRG to Ukraine, as requested by Kiev.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called on the heads of G7 diplomatic agencies to adopt laws that would allow the confiscation of Russian assets and transfer them to Kiev to restore the country.
