OREANDA-NEWS Because of the vulnerability of European economies from the anti-Russian sanctions beach tourism is called an opportunity to avoid large losses from the recession. It writes about it The Wall Street Journal, is told in the material Lenta.ru.
According to experts, beach tourism can become the last hope and "impetus" for the economies of European countries, particularly in southern Europe. So, with a sharp slowdown in economic development, caused by rising energy prices and a decline in purchasing power, travelers are likely to prefer to spend their savings on vacations.
Economists believe that energy prices may rise even more as the West reduces global hydrocarbon supplies. At the same time, the high cost of electricity, heating fuel and gasoline will limit household spending on other goods and services - the result will be a drop in purchasing power of Europeans.
Earlier in May it was reported that the European resorts are facing huge financial losses because of the lack of tourists from Russia. Thus, the most affected would be Cyprus, whose tourism industry accounts for a quarter of the economy.
