OREANDA-NEWS European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has called Russia a threat to the world order, Interfax reports, according to Gazeta.ru.
According to her, the EU wants to play a more active role in the Indo-Pacific region.
She noted that the topic leads to Russia, which is "a direct threat to the world order," in particular, because of Moscow's "alarming package" with Beijing and the two countries' joint call for "new and very arbitrary international relations."
The head of the EC believes that China should "intensify its activities in order to protect the multilateral system from which it benefited in the development of its country.
Earlier it was reported that the European Commission is ready to offer Hungary compensation for supporting the embargo on Russian oil supplies and the sixth package of sanctions against Russia in general.
On May 4, Ursula von der Leyen announced the sixth package of sanctions, which includes a delayed embargo on Russian oil supplies. According to her, the EC advocates a ban on imports of crude oil from Russia to the EU in six months and the import of petroleum products in 2023.
