OREANDA-NEWS Estonia has started to stockpile natural gas and grain amid instability on global markets. This was reported by ERR portal with reference to the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure of Estonia Taavi Aas, Gazeta.ru reported.
In 2021 the Estonian authorities established a storage center to provide fuel, food and medicines in case of crisis. As of today, Talin has managed to accumulate a sufficient reserve of food, fuel and protective equipment.
But now, according to the newspaper, the authorities will have to stockpile natural gas at a rate of one terawatt hour, worth up to €170 million, as well as 7.5 tons of grain, only the storage of which will cost €450,000.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova earlier said that Moscow rejects the accusations made by David Beazley, executive director of the UN World Food Program, that Russia is using "hunger as a weapon".
