State of Emergency Is Declared in 20 Districts of Serbia because of a Flood
OREANDA-NEWS. State of emergency was declared in 20 municipalities of Serbia due to flooding. Two people were missing.
However, Predrag Maric, a head of the Sector for Emergency Management under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stated that the situation is stabilizing. According to him, in all crisis areas, the situation is gradually improving, damage assessment will begin today. 275 people have been evacuated, the search for the missing married couple is ongoing.
According to Maric, about 500 objects have been flooded, many roads were damaged by water, and transportation was terminated in a number of territories. The military is considering the possibility of building pontoon bridges where it is necessary. “According to the forecasts of the Hydrometeorological Center, the weather is stabilizing, life will soon begin to return to normal,” the official said.
Later, the newspaper Vecernje novosti reported that one person died as a result of the flood.
