OREANDA-NEWS. The Kingdom of Spain will provide Ukraine with offensive weapons, RIA Novosti reports, referring to the words of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who addressed the Congress of Deputies.
He added that Spain has always considered the special operation of Russian troops in Ukraine an attack on Europe, on European principles and values. Therefore, his country supported the activation of the European Peace Fund for the supply of defensive and offensive weapons by the European Union to Ukraine. Spain is the fourth donor to this fund.
“That was my position and the position of the Spanish government. And I think it is adequate,” said Sanchez.
He also expressed his confidence that a coordinated and unified "European response" should be given to the "threat to Europe".
Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said that his country does not call on NATO to enter into an armed conflict, but asks for support in the fight against Russia. Kuleba said that Ukraine is fighting with its own physical forces.
“We are not inviting NATO to fight here for us. This is our land. Everything NATO can do to support Ukraine in this war is not only a moral obligation, but also a political expediency for NATO,” the minister said.
He clarified that, in particular, options are being worked out, "how to help with air defense."
