Source: OREANDA-NEWS
OREANDA-NEWS The shortage of doctors in Finland is becoming more acute. They are lacking even in such large cities as Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and Oulu, not to mention small towns. The authorities are planning to increase the number of places in medical schools, writes Yle.
According to the calculations of employers in the municipalities, there are three thousand more jobs to be filled by doctors in Finland. The employers' organization has proposed to fill the gap by increasing the number of students in medical schools. But it will not work quickly to solve the problem in this way.
The country's government wants patients to get an appointment seven days after the call to the clinic. One way to achieve this goal is to recruit about a thousand general practitioners.
