OREANDA-NEWS Nis, the largest city in southern Serbia, celebrated the Day of Reunification of New regions with Russia with the opening of the exhibition "People of New Regions" and the screening of the film "Mariupol. Russian City," Kirill Borshchev, Deputy Chairman of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in Serbia (CSRS), told RIA Novosti.

The exhibition "People of New Regions" presents photo portraits of residents of the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions of different ages and professions from a pensioner from Khartsyzsk and a student from Melitopol to an associate professor at Donetsk Technical University or the director of a stud farm from Lugansk. Their quotes and thoughts about a new life in Russia have been translated into Serbian. Citizens of Serbia and the Russian Federation, bikers, representatives of public organizations gathered in the Niche for the opening of the exhibition and the screening of the film.

"All these people gathered here on a new holiday for us on September 30th to support Russians, "old" and "new". It is gratifying that this is not happening in Belgrade, but in a Niche, which shows that Russia's problems, hardships, challenges and successes are not alien to Serbs throughout Serbia. Even in the far corners they know about what is happening in the Russian Federation. They support the Russian people because our aspirations and emotions are close to the Serbs, we are experiencing similar historical events in different periods of time," said the deputy chairman of the CSORS in a conversation with the agency.

The event also included a screening of the film "Mariupol. Russian City" directed by Stanislav Obishchenko, RT correspondent, dedicated to the liberation operation in Mariupol.

The organizers of the exhibition and demonstration of the film – the society of Serbian-Russian friendship and Russian compatriots "Naisus" from Nis and members of the CSORS, also filmed and published a congratulatory video in honor of the Day of Reunification of new regions with the Russian Federation on social networks.
