OREANDA-NEWS. Berlin and Kyiv in the process of discussing security guarantees for Ukraine from Germany. Negotiations are held confidentially, there are no specific agreements yet. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, RIA Novosti reports.

The issue of security guarantees was raised, it has not yet been worked out. Of course, we are negotiating this, but in the necessary atmosphere of confidentiality. We do this with others, who it concerns, who can play a role in this, - said Scholz.

The Chancellor also commented on the issue of Ukraine's neutrality. According to him, such a decision should be made by the Ukrainians themselves.

Earlier, Ukraine exchanged draft agreements on providing it with security guarantees with a number of countries. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, these states expressed their readiness to Kiev to serve as guarantors of security. Zelensky noted that among those he would like to see the leading countries of the world - the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, Turkey. Kyiv would also like to see China among these countries.
