OREANDA-NEWS In 2023, sales of Russian wines in the domestic market jumped by about 20 percent compared to the previous year. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Yevtukhov during the launch ceremony of the spring stage of the All-Russian campaign "Days of Russian Wines", his words are quoted by TASS.
The Deputy Minister noted that the demand and sales of domestic wine products have been growing in recent years due to state support measures for the industry. As a result, last year the Russian wine market (excluding catering) grew to 786 million liters, he said.
Of the total volume, sparkling wines accounted for 216 million liters, while still wines accounted for 564 million. Yevtukhov stressed that Russian wines dominate the price range of up to 500 rubles, occupying 85 percent of the market.
Earlier, Dmitry Kiselyov, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Russia, proposed to increase import duties on wine to support domestic winemaking. According to him, the existing volumes of imported wine supplies are excessive and "stifle" Russian production. The association intends to act as a trade union, defending the interests of Russian winemakers, Kiselyov added.
