Russians turned out to be leaders in obtaining a residence permit in Turkey

OREANDA-NEWS According to the results of 2022, Russians turned out to be leaders in obtaining residence permits (residence permits) in Turkey compared to citizens of other countries. This is reported by Kommersant with reference to the data of the Turkstat Institute of Statistics.
Russians accounted for 25 percent of the total number of residence permits. In total, Russian citizens have issued more than 99.8 thousand documents. Since 2021, the indicator has increased by 77 percent — then Russians received 22.2 thousand residence permits.
In 2022, more than 408 thousand people received a residence permit in Turkey. Citizens of Ukraine accounted for 8.1 percent (32 thousand documents), residents of Iran — 6.5 percent (26 thousand), Afghanistan — 5.4 percent (24 thousand). Iraqi citizens received 22 thousand residence permits (a share of 4.8 percent).
Earlier, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied information about the ban on the issuance of a residence permit (residence permit) to foreigners in all districts of Istanbul. The issue has been suspended only in 10 districts of the city. The ban was extended to the districts of Avcylar, Bakhchelievler, Bashakshehir, Bagcylar, Esenler, Kuchukchekmedje, Sultangazi, Zeytinburnu, Fatih and Esenyurt.
