OREANDA-NEWS. A coronavirus was diagnosed with a Russian citizen who entered Azerbaijan from Iran, the operational headquarters under the government of the republic said.

"He was placed in the infectious unit of the special regime. The infection of the Russian with coronavirus was confirmed by a test, the patient's condition is currently stable. The necessary measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the virus, including work to identify persons with whom the patient had contact", the headquarters said.

In a press release received by the Russian media, it's noted that this is the first case of infection in Azerbaijan. According to the latest data, the number of people infected with coronavirus in mainland China is approaching 79 thousand people, 2778 have died, over 36 thousand have been cured.

Outside of China, cases of infection were recorded in 46 countries, the number of infected reached 3664, and 57 people died. In Iran, the number of infected reached 388, having increased by more than 100 people per day. 34 patients died.
