OREANDA-NEWS. State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin believes that the United States stands behind the intention of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to simplify the acquisition of citizenship for the “persecuted” Russians for political convictions. "It's obvious that the US State Department is behind the decisions", the official website of the lower house of the Russian parliament quotes the speaker on Tuesday.
"Those who violated the law of the Russian Federation, stole and want to evade punishment and get political cover in the form of asylum, will be sent to Ukraine instead of the USA and Great Britain, where they will face an unenviable fate - having abandoned their native language and faith, sow discord and create tension between our countries", Volodin warned.
According to the expert, such a decision of the Ukrainian president limits the provision of diplomatic services from Western countries to the Russians. "The US and the UK have become unnecessary at home asylum seekers from Russia. Keeping them expensive, after some time they stop working out the order, become disillusioned with their owners, begin to make revealing statements, in a word, solid problems with them", he said. At the same time, Volodin pointed out, “absolute populism” is to invite citizens of other countries to a state where every area of life is in crisis.
To date, immigration from Ukraine has a tremendous pace, most often people leave for Poland and the Czech Republic, some to Russia and other countries of Eastern Europe. This is due to the low standard of living in the country, in addition to low wages and dim prospects. Because of these reasons, the state is losing millions of young people annually.
Zelensky on Tuesday instructed the government to develop a bill on a simplified procedure for obtaining Ukrainian citizenship by citizens of the Russian Federation who are allegedly being persecuted for political beliefs, a corresponding decree is published on the website of the head of Ukrainian state.
