Russia Will Require the US to Return Yaroshenko to his Homeland
The decision was made in cooperation with the Russian Foreign Ministry. The request is scheduled to be sent after April 20.
It is reported that the transfer program is intended for those who have difficulties in serving their sentences away from home. Thus, Yaroshenko falls under this program because of health problems.
"If you look at the past attempts to return me on the basis of my petition, all three times I was denied. The last time we waited for an answer for more than seven months. Then the head of the Department of international transfers Paula wolf personally refused my return to Russia," Yaroshenko said in an interview with media channels.
Victoria, the wife of the Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, serving a term in an American prison, told that she had not seen the appeal of the Russian Ministry of justice to the us authorities about the return of her husband.
"I really hope that the appeal will not be as formal as always, I would like it to be supported by agreements, and the possibility of exchange was", — she said and added that her husband also does not want the request of the Russian side, if it is formal, was sent to the United States.
Konstantin Yaroshenko was arrested on May 28, 2010 in Liberia, and then taken to the United States. The American authorities have accused him in the preparation of the conspiracy to delivery to the States large quantities of drugs.
In 2011, the court sentenced him to 20 years in prison. He first served this sentence at Fort Dix prison in new Jersey, then was transferred to the Danbury correctional facility in Connecticut.
In August 2018, for the first time in seven years, his family met him: his wife and daughter flew to the United States and visited him in prison.
