OREANDA-NEWS. Russia supports the call of UN Secretary General Anthony Guterres to the parties to armed conflicts to stop hostilities against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic. This is stated in a statement published on Tuesday on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“In connection with the worldwide spread of the coronavirus epidemic COVID-19, the Russian Foreign Ministry urges the parties to regional armed conflicts to immediately stop hostilities, introduce a ceasefire and a humanitarian pause. We support the corresponding statement by UN Secretary General Anthony Guterres on March 23”, indicated in the ministry.
Moscow calls for an end to the use of military force to those countries that illegally use force by force outside their borders. "We especially note that in the current conditions there can be no justification for politics, including economic restrictions, which seriously complicate the efforts of the authorities to protect the health of their people", the Foreign Ministry explained.
The situation was especially alarming in the Foreign Ministry "in Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Syria, as well as in the Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip".
