OREANDA-NEWS  Russia should not notify Washington about the tests of the underwater drone "Poseidon", which are planned for the summer. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, RIA Novosti reports.

The Russian diplomat recalled that there are a number of agreements concluded in the 1980s that involve notifying the parties about launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles and submarine-launched ballistic missiles.

"Neither one nor the other applies to this promising system, and in general, testing activities of this kind do not fall under any verification mechanisms and cannot fall," Ryabkov explained.

The first tests of the Poseidon underwater drone are scheduled for the summer of 2023 from a marine carrier — the Belgorod nuclear submarine. First of all, the tests will affect the operation of the Poseidon nuclear power plant.
