OREANDA-NEWS Rostec, which includes the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), has just started working with airlines to assess the real demand for new aircraft by 2030. A preliminary assessment shows that the Russian Federation will need to produce at least 200 airliners for decommissioned foreign aircraft, the head of the state corporation, Sergey Chemezov, told reporters in Moscow. on the sidelines of the RSPP congress.
"Today, we still cannot say the exact number, because we are only starting to discuss this topic with the airlines today. I think that about 200, which is a minimum, will need to be produced in order to replace those aging foreign airliners that are currently operated by airlines," he said, commenting on the review process of the previously approved and partially outdated comprehensive program for the development of the civil aviation industry (KPGA).
"It may take more," Chemezov added.
In the current public version, the KPGA assumes the production of 994 civil aircraft by 2030, including 592 UAC-made aircraft (142 SJ-100, 270 MC-21, 51 Il-114-300, 115 Tu-214, 14 Il-96-300). Earlier, Chemezov said that the program should be adjusted in accordance with the plans and capabilities of the airlines. According to him, the KPGA was drawn up "at a difficult moment" (in 2022): there was no understanding of how the situation in the aviation industry would develop in the future due to sanctions, what would happen to foreign aircraft, their maintenance, and components - "urgent actions were required."
First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said in September that plans for passenger aircraft production in Russia would be reviewed in 2025, closer to the completion of certification work.
