OREANDA-NEWS Moscow is counting on the early resumption of transport links in the Lachin corridor, Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the organization Anna Evstigneeva said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
"The Lachin corridor provides a link between Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia. According to the statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia dated November 9, 2020, the Lachin corridor is under the control of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, which remains the guarantor of stability in the region and effectively fulfills its tasks," the diplomat said.
According to her, it is important that when signing this statement, the parties assumed obligations that must be strictly observed. In particular, so that there are no problems for the civilian population.
"We expect to restore full—fledged transport links in the very near future," Evstigneeva said.
According to Evstigneeva, Moscow calls on Azerbaijan and Armenia to exercise restraint and refrain from steps that could increase the degree of tension, as well as to comply with the agreements within the framework of the trilateral statements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021, as well as October 31, 2022.
