OREANDA-NEWS. Russia and China plan to reach $ 200 billion in mutual trade by 2024, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.“We set ourselves the goal of reaching the level of $ 200 billion by 2024. We plan to achieve this primarily through joint projects in the energy sector, industry, high technology, and the agricultural sector”, Medvedev said during the 24- of the regular meeting of the heads of government of the Russian Federation and China in an expanded format.

According to him, over the past year, mutual trade turnover increased by a quarter and amounted to over $ 108 billion. At a meeting with Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang, Medvedev added that Russian-Chinese relations are at an unprecedented high level.

“Our country was the first to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China, it did this on October 2, 1949. I would like to specifically emphasize that after seven decades, Russian-Chinese relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction are at an unprecedented high level and have entered a new era”, said Medvedev during the 24th regular meeting of the heads of government of the Russian Federation and China in an expanded format.

He said that Russia and China are implementing large-scale projects on a bilateral basis and within interstate associations. “We stand for compliance with international standards, regulation in global markets. This is especially important in the conditions of imposed trade wars and illegitimate sanction pressure”, Medvedev emphasized. According to him, mutual support and understanding of common interests help the Russian Federation and China to solve long-term tasks, including within the framework of the project "One belt - one way".
