Putin, Macron and Trump Issueв a Joint Statement on Karabakh
OREANDA-NEWS President of Russia Vladimir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron and US leader Donald Trump issued a joint statement on the situation in Karabakh.
The statement posted on the Kremlin's website says: “We mourn the victims and express our condolences to the families of those killed and wounded. We call for an immediate end to hostilities between the armed forces of the parties involved”.
Moreover, the heads of states call on the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan to resume negotiations on Karabakh faithfully and without setting preconditions with the assistance of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
It should be reminded that on September 27, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced that it was launching a "counter-offensive operation" in response to the actions of the Armenian Armed Forces, which "fired on settlements on the contact line in Karabakh."
It was reported that settlements in the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, including, Stepanakert, the capital, were subjected to artillery fire.
The result of the hostilities is disturbing, there are some civilian and military casualties, along with the injured, on both sides. Martial law and mobilization have been declared in Karabakh and Armenia. Partial mobilization has been announced in Azerbaijan, martial law has been introduced in some cities.
