Putin Commented on Calls for Russia's Compliance with the Minsk Agreements
OREANDA-NEWS Moscow cannot be demanded to fulfill the Minsk agreements to resolve the situation in Ukraine, especially the part that does not belong to it, said Russian President Vladimir Putin after meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.
During the speech, the head of state wondered why the West does not require the implementation of the Minsk agreements from Kiev. "We can't do it for them. Let me issue this decree, what will it be then?" - Putin said.
The Russian leader recalled that the Ukrainian authorities have not yet adopted a law on the amnesty of the militias, which is provided for in the Minsk agreements.
The President also recalled that the Minsk agreements require the restoration of Ukraine’s economic ties with the Donbas, for which Kiev must cancel a decree of former president Petro Poroshenko on the blockade of the region.
The Minsk agreements were signed first on September 5, 2014, and then supplemented on February 12, 2015. They were developed during the negotiations of Vladimir Putin with French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Petro Poroshenko in Minsk.
