OREANDA-NEWS Federation Council member Alexei Pushkov said that unsuccessful attempts to elect a new speaker of the House of Representatives of the Congress revealed the depth of the split in the power circles of the United States. He expressed this opinion in his Telegram channel.

"The eighth attempt to elect the Speaker of the US House of Representatives ended in vain. The American system of power is increasingly stalling," he believes.

According to the Russian senator, the presidential election discredited the United States in the eyes of half the world, and now congressmen continue this work.

"If things go on like this, the house will remain without a chairman, and Nancy Pelosi will remain the last speaker of the House of Representatives in American history," Pushkov wrote.

Earlier it was reported that the House of Representatives of the US Congress for the seventh time and the third day in a row could not elect a speaker and get to work. It is noted that congressmen will not be able to take the oath of office and begin performing their duties until a new speaker of the House is elected.
