OREANDA-NEWS. Polish companies will demand compensation from Gazprom for cutting off fuel supplies, Polish President Andrzej Duda said during a meeting with Czech leader Milos Zaman. In his opinion, the existing agreements have been violated by the Russian side, RIA Novosti reports.
Of course, Polish firms that have concluded contracts with Russia for gas supplies, which are de facto currently thwarted by Russia, <...> will take appropriate legal steps, the Polish president's agency quotes.
Gazprom Export sent a notification to the Polish company PGNiG and the Bulgarian Bulgargaz about the suspension of gas supplies from April 27 until the moment the fuel is paid in rubles. The Russian company noted that its partners were warned in a timely manner about the change in the payment scheme for gas supplies.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki called the suspension of Russian gas supplies to the country "revenge" for the sanctions. Piotr Naimsky, Commissioner of the Polish Government for Strategic Energy Infrastructure, in turn, said that Warsaw would no longer buy gas from Russia. He also assured that the country will not experience fuel shortages.
Russian Ambassador to Warsaw Sergey Andreev did not agree with him. According to him, Poland has no alternatives to compensate for gas supplies from Russia.
