OREANDA-NEWS. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Moravecki stated that the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was in fact an allied agreement between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. The corresponding statement was published on Twitter by the Polish Prime Minister.
In a four-page document, the Polish prime minister sets out Warsaw’s view of the events of the outbreak of World War II and accuses modern Russian authorities of supporting Stalinism. “The people of Russia - the main victim of Stalin, one of the greatest criminals in world history - deserves the truth. I believe that Russians are a nation of free people, and they reject Stalinism, even if the Putin government is trying to justify it, ”the statement says.
According to the prime minister, Poland was the first country that "began the struggle in defense of a free Europe". So now, when “some are trying to distort the memory of these events”, Poland must “defend the truth”, he said.
"The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was not just a "non-aggression act". It was a political and military alliance that divided Europe into two spheres of influence along the lines that ran through Poland”, the statement said. Moravecki also recalled that on September 22, Soviet troops and Nazi Germany held a joint parade in Brest-Litovsk.
