OREANDA-NEWS. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki (pictured) called on Russia to immediately abandon the plan proposed by President Vladimir Putin for a possible military intervention in Belarus. He wrote about this on his Twitter account.

“The [Polish] government calls on Russia to immediately abandon plans for military intervention in Belarus under the false pretext of 'regaining control' - a hostile act that violates international law and the rights of the Belarusian people, who must independently decide their own fate,” the Prime Minister wrote.

Earlier on August 27, Putin said that at the request of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, a reserve of law enforcement officers had been formed in Russia, which, if necessary, would be used to provide assistance to the union republic. In his words, the Russian security forces will not go to Belarus until the situation there gets out of control.

Lukashenko himself talked about Moscow's readiness "at the first request" to help Minsk on the basis of an agreement on the Union State, as well as through the CSTO. Also, the Belarusian leader said that he has complete mutual understanding with Putin on the situation in the republic.
