OREANDA-NEWS. Jacques Maire, the Special Rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on the alleged poisoning of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, will request permission from the Russian authorities to visit the country. He plans to prepare a report on the situation, related to the persecution of the politician.

This was announced by the PACE press service on Twitter on January 19. Maire said, that he would like to visit Siberia – where the politician was hospitalized. The host of the event said that the Maire has the commission's permission to do it.

Navalny himself was supposed to take part in the hearing, but he was detained on arrival in Moscow on January 17 and arrested. Instead, his colleague Leonid Volkov took part in the event. The Russian delegation did not participate in the hearings.

The executive director of the Anti-Corruption Fund (FBK), Vladimir Ashurkov, has published a list of Russians against whom opposition leader suggests that Western countries impose sanctions. Ashurkov said in a post on his Facebook page posted on the evening of January 18, that he agreed on the list with the founder of FBK Navalny a few days before his departure from Berlin to Moscow.

The list includes billionaires Roman Abramovich and Alisher Usmanov, the head of VTB Bank Andrey Kostin and his deputy Denis Bortnikov, the head of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko, the Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev, the head of VEB Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov and TV-host Vladimir Solovyov.
