OREANDA-NEWS NOVATEK (MOEX: NVTK), against the background of sanctions restrictions, began to review plans for the construction of its promising large-capacity LNG projects in Murmansk and Sabetta. According to Kommersant's sources, work on Murmansk LNG and Ob LNG has been frozen so far. The development of the Ob Gas Chemical Complex (GHK) continues, but with the possibility of repurposing the project for the production of ammonia and carbamide. Experts consider the reprofiling logical due to the weak availability of technologies for the initial version of the project and more convenient marketing of carbamide.

Due to the pressure of sanctions, the leader of the Russian LNG market, NOVATEK, is looking for alternative ways to monetize its gas reserves and is reviewing promising export projects, Kommersant sources familiar with the company's plans say. NOVATEK did not respond to Kommersant's request.

According to Kommersant's sources, further work on the large-capacity Murmansk LNG and Ob LNG projects has been suspended for the time being, active work on none of them is underway.

Kommersant's interlocutors do not understand when NOVATEK will return to their development, since now the company is mainly focused on completing the Arctic LNG-2 and arranging shipments from the project. According to Kommersant's sources, the company understands that all future LNG export projects of the company will be sanctioned. It is also unclear on which site to build ice-class tankers for Arctic projects, how to finance them and how to organize trading.
