OREANDA-NEWS  New Zealand has introduced a new package of sanctions against Russia and Belarus. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Winston Peters, his words are quoted on the department's website.

"Russia's ongoing illegal occupation of Ukraine's Zaporizhia NPP threatens nuclear safety. New Zealand again calls on Russia to end the occupation of the Zaporizhia NPP and immediately withdraw from the territory of Ukraine," the minister concluded. According to him, the new sanctions are directed against five individuals and six organizations.

Peters added that the restrictive measures are aimed at participants in the "illegal occupation of the Zaporizhia NPP," the Russian military-industrial complex, as well as Belarusian individuals and organizations that "support the invasion."

Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that the lifting of sanctions against Russia would be on the agenda of possible negotiations on Ukraine if they could be restarted. According to the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, a number of groups are interested in continuing the conflict in Ukraine, but they are concerned that the format of the confrontation may change.
