NATO Countries are Going to Discuss Opposition to Russia and China
OREANDA-NEWS. At the 32nd NATO summit, the leaders of the alliance countries are going to discuss opposition to Russia and China, as well as possible cooperation with Ukraine and Georgia.
"We will discuss the impact on our security of the rise of China and Russia's aggressive behavior, as well as support for our partners Ukraine and Georgia," NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference ahead of the summit of heads of state and government of the alliance.
In the meantime, the attitude of the residents of NATO member countries towards Russia and China has deteriorated. This is evidenced by a public opinion poll conducted in 30 countries at the request of NATO on the eve of the June 14 summit.
40% of residents of the alliance countries have a negative attitude towards Russia and China. 18% of the respondents have a positive opinion. 70% of those surveyed consider the level of defense spending by the members of the alliance sufficient. 29% are in favor of increasing these costs.
The summit will be held in Brussels on June 14 with the participation of Joe Biden. And on June 16, a meeting between Vladimir Putin and the President of the United States will take place in Geneva.
