OREANDA-NEWS  NASA has updated the list of landing sites for the Artemis 3 mission, in which American astronauts should be on the surface of the Moon. This is reported by SpaceNews.

The update of the list of possible locations was made taking into account the capabilities of the promising reusable Starship transport system being developed by SpaceX.

The publication recalls that in August 2022, there were 12 territories on the list of places for landing Artemis 3. The new list includes 9 places from the old list, as well as new territories. All locations are located near the south pole of the Earth's natural satellite.

In July, the publication, citing an analysis of the lunar program conducted by NASA, reported that the Artemis 3 lunar mission may be delayed due to delays in the development of the Human Landing System (HLS) lander.

According to the American Space Agency, there is a 70 percent chance that the mission will be ready to land on the moon's surface by February 2028. NASA currently plans to do this in September 2026.
