OREANDA-NEWS Representatives of Russia and the United States on February 26-28 will hold talks in Washington on the development of air communication between the two countries. This was reported on Thursday in the press service of the Ministry of transport.

"Negotiations on air communication between the US and Russia are scheduled in Washington [on] February 26-28. The theme is the development of air communication, " the Ministry said.

In April 2018, air traffic between Russia and the United States was on the verge of collapse. "Aeroflot" then said that he could not get a work visa for the crews: the flight crew was not recorded for the interview. In may, the US also tightened requirements for Russian airlines. The previous meeting of representatives of the aviation authorities of the two countries was held in June 2018. It was reported that it, in particular, raised issues of transit cargo transportation of American airlines through the airspace of Russia. In June 2018, the Minister of transport of the Russian Federation Yevgeny Dietrich told reporters that another meeting is planned, at that time the date has not yet been determined.

Recently, there have been a number of problems in air communication between the United States and Russia. In particular, due to the issue of transit of American companies, Washington in may last year tightened the requirements for three Russian airlines: Aeroflot, AirBridgeCargo (part of the Volga - Dnepr group) and Yakutia.
