OREANDA-NEWS  57.9 percent of Moldovans surveyed opposed the anti-Russian sanctions, and 53.1 percent believe that the country is moving in the wrong direction. Sputnik Near Abroad writes about this with reference to a survey by the Moldovan Institute of European Policies and Reforms.

Only 12.9 percent of respondents support leaving the CIS. The data also states that more than half of the respondents — 57 percent — do not want unification with Romania, and 60 percent of Moldovans are against the country's accession to NATO.

In March, Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicolai Popescu spoke about the government's plans to impose sanctions against 25 Russians. They were promised restrictive measures in the form of a ban on entry into Moldova, freezing of bank accounts and assets.

In June, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that the country's legislation should be changed in order to be able to impose personal sanctions against foreign citizens. So far, there is a list of foreign citizens who are banned from entering Moldova.
