More than 1 Billion Animals Died because of Fires in Australia
OREANDA-NEWS. According to the University of Sydney, in Australia, more than 1 billion animals died because of bushfires continuing since last autumn.
This assessment was given by Professor Chris Dickman. He reports that in the state of New South Wales, 800 million living creatures died. There is no list of the species taken into consideration, but it is specified that the figure does not include “frogs, insects and other invertebrates.”
Fire swept the southeast coast of Australia in October 2019. Earlier it was reported that more than 20 people died. The authorities sent 3,000 military men to extinguish fire. The government intends to allocate about 1.4 billion US dollars to restoration after the disaster.
