OREANDA-NEWS. Accusations of Russia by the assistant to the President of the United States on national security John Bolton of stealing American technologies for creating hypersonic weapons are not true - original domestic projects of this kind were developed back in the 1970s. This point of view was expressed on Thursday by Russian military expert, editor-in-chief of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine Viktor Murakhovsky.

"Domestic hypersonic technologies rely on a gigantic scientific and technical reserve created back in the USSR. These developments were publicly announced by the President of the Russian Federation recently, but they started in the 1970s. And these works were carried out not only for military purposes, but also for space exploration", said Murakhovsky. The expert also noted that all warheads of intercontinental ballistic missiles from the moment of their appearance in the late 1950s of the last century enter the atmosphere in hypersound. "Then the task was set to ensure maneuver of these units at hypersonic speeds, and it was solved", Murakhovsky said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Bolton said in an interview with the American radio station that the Russian Federation had stolen American technology related to the creation of hypersonic weapons.

Speaking about the accident at the proving ground near Severodvinsk, where employees of Rosatom and the Department of Defense died due to a liquid engine fire, an assistant to the President of the United States said that “although the Russian economy is about the size of the Netherlands, Russia still spends enough money on defense to not only to modernize its nuclear arsenal, but also to create new types of delivery vehicles - hypersonic gliding aircraft, hypersonic cruise missiles, largely stolen from American x technology".
