OREANDA-NEWS. In the next five years, global warming will continue, the temperature in the world as a whole may rise by one degree, and the Arctic in 2020 will become significantly warmer. This is stated on the website of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

In 2020–2024, in almost all regions of the world, with the exception of some parts of the southern oceans, it will most likely be warmer than in the recent past, the report says. Meteorologists note that the past five years have been the warmest in the history of global climate observations. World temperature has already exceeded the norm of the pre-industrial period (1850–1900) by more than one degree.

In the next five years, the average annual temperature will again increase by one degree. Moreover, with a probability of 20 %, one year will be even hotter when global temperature exceeds the old norms by 1.5 %.
