OREANDA-NEWS. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov to discuss within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) a proposal to reduce the threshold for duty-free import of parcels from foreign online stores to Russia to € 100 from July 1, 2020, € 50 from January 1, 2021 and € 20 from January 1, 2022.

According to the source of the Russian media, Siluanov argues his position by the fact that when sending goods for personal use, VAT and import customs duties are not levied, while these payments are present in traditional retail. As a result, the Ministry of Finance notes the flow of profits and taxes from Russia to online stores located in foreign countries.

In order to create equal competitive conditions for Russian and foreign trade, as well as to prevent budget losses, the duty-free import conditions are proposed to be tightened, and this should be done on the territory of the entire EAEU. The relevant issue has already been discussed at a meeting with the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Communications and the Federal Customs Service.
