In turn, the Al Jazeera TV channel reported about 12 victims of an American drone strike. According to him, seven children aged from 2 to 10 years were among the dead. According to media reports, among the civilians, the victims were members of the same family, they died as a result of the collapse of an apartment building near the airport at the time of the American attack.

On the eve of the US military aircraft struck a target in the capital of Afghanistan. The target of the attack, according to the Pentagon, was a car with a suicide bomber and explosives, which was moving towards the airport. The person in the car was allegedly associated with the branch of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS) in Afghanistan, calling itself «IG-Khorasan».

After the air strike, the command of the US armed forces reported that it was checking reports of possible civilian casualties. The operation successfully averted an «immediate threat» to the airport from terrorists, other results of the air strike are being checked, the US headquarters in the region said in a statement.
