OREANDA-NEWS. Discussions will be held in the form of videoconferences. The main negotiators of the EU and the United Kingdom on Brexit - Michel Barnier and David Frost - on Wednesday will outline the dates for further bilateral negotiations on relations after Britain leaves the community. This was reported on Tuesday by the Financial Times.
According to the publication, telephone consultations between them will take place for the first time after the coronavirus was detected at Barnier on March 19. The EU and the United Kingdom must complete negotiations on a future agreement by the end of this year, despite the pandemic caused by the coronavirus disease. The next rounds of discussions will be held in the format of video conferencing.
Contacts between Brussels and London continued during the period of Barnier's disease. In early April, a series of consultations of negotiating teams on some technical issues took place. The representative of the European Commission also held consultations with Frost.
The UK left the EU on February 1, 2020 after three years of negotiating exit conditions. Brussels and London have agreed on a transitional period until the end of this year, during which all European standards apply to the United Kingdom. During this time, the parties must agree on a document on the procedure for building future relations.
