OREANDA-NEWS The representative office of a chain of fast-food restaurants McDonald's in Austria apologized to the inhabitants of Italy, who perceived as an insult to the new fast-food ad, writes the newspaper Kronen Zeitung.
“We wanted to advertise our new burgers with a bit of humor on these posters,” said a company spokesman on July 22. "Of course, we did not intend to insult the Italians in any way. And we sincerely apologize to all those who felt offended.”
The advertisement appearing on the Austrian streets presented a new product, flirting with the word “mafiosi”, and the campaign app directly addressed customers with the phrase “hey, mafiosi”. Among others the displeasure was expressed by the Minister of the Interior of Italy Matteo Salvini.
