In addition, he expressed the need to raise the minimum age from which Americans are allowed to buy and store weapons. McConaughey firmly believes that the US government is able to solve the problem of frequent shootings, which are accompanied by mass casualties.

Earlier, on the twenty-fourth of May, a shooting occurred at a school in the city of Yuvalde, where the actor himself is from. During the investigation, it was found that nineteen children and two teachers were killed.
