OREANDA-NEWS The holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia has been flooded due to extreme weather conditions. Severe flooding was also recorded in Medina. This is reported by the Metro newspaper.

It is noted that entire neighborhoods are partially flooded due to heavy torrential rains. Precipitation turned roads into rivers, and the water washed away cars, trees, and debris. The publication clarifies that the men formed a human chain to rescue children trapped by flooding in the Al-Awali area southeast of Mecca.

In addition, local residents abandoned cars and one tourist bus right in the middle of the road when water suddenly gushed.

The Saudi Arabian Meteorological Department has declared a red alert level in Mecca, Medina and Jeddah, where the port is located.

Earlier, a powerful earthquake occurred in southwestern China near the border with Nepal. The magnitude was 6.8, and the epicenter of the tremors was located 163 kilometers southwest of the city of Shigatse at a depth of about 10 kilometers.
