Maduro Announced the "Great Change Plan" in Venezuela
The appeal is addressed to the PSUV, regional authorities, and the Alliance of the Great Patriotic Pole of Simon Bolivar. Maduro asked them to tell him their priorities for the change plan. This happened after the speaker of the National Assembly, Juan Guaido, who declared himself the interim head of state in January, announced the start of the last stage of Operation Freedom, aimed at “ending usurpation”. According to Guayido, the main military units of the Republican Armed Forces joined him.

Human rights activists reported that about 150 people were detained during the protest actions. Another demonstrator died, wrote Guayido on Twitter. On May 1, Maduro announced that the authorities had succeeded in stopping the attempted coup d'etat initiated by the former mayor of Caracas, the founder of the Social Democratic Party of the People's Will, Leopoldo Lopez.
