OREANDA-NEWS French President Emmanuel Macron has hinted at criticizing US President-elect Donald Trump, without directly mentioning his name. This is reported by the newspaper Politico.

In particular, during his speech at the G20 summit, the French leader raised the issue of the fragility of international agreements and the risk of new trade wars that accompanied the first Trump administration. Macron paid special attention to the 2016 Paris Climate Agreement, from which the United States also withdrew under the 45th president.

"We have made progress since the Paris Climate Agreement. But all this is fragile and can be questioned at any moment by [countries] that do not comply with the conditions or do not withdraw from it (...) Any destruction of the international order by the tariff policy pursued by the strongest will encourage others to do the same," Macron said.

On November 6, Macron was one of the first to congratulate Republican candidate Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election, on his election victory and declared his readiness to work together. In his statement, he particularly emphasized the existence of common beliefs.
