OREANDA-NEWS. Ukraine needs support from the European Union, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in a conversation with the EU representative in Belarus Andrea Victorin, the Belarusian News Agency reported. “We have with you a common problem, one might say, the trouble is Ukraine. I know the Ukrainian people very well and all that is happening in Ukraine today, these people didn’t deserve it. I would really ask you to render all assistance in stabilizing the situation in Ukraine”, Lukashenka said.

Belarus, Ukraine and the European Union "live in the same region", he explained. “This abscess, this headache for the European Union should be eliminated as soon as possible”, the President of Belarus continued, speaking of the neighboring country. Lukashenko believes that the European Union is responsible for what is happening in Ukraine: Kiev decided to focus on Europe, and not on Belarus or Russia. “The European Union said A, I must say B. We must help the Ukrainian people”, said Lukashenko.

He also stated that Belarus is ready to strengthen the political dialogue with the European Union, and thanked Victorin for her work as head of the EU representation in Belarus (she leaves this position, since she was appointed representative in Armenia).
