OREANDA-NEWS US congressmen will "definitely break their teeth" in their attempts to crush the self-proclaimed Donbass republics. The head of the Luhansk people's republic, Leonid Pasechnik, said.
"A huge number of imaginable and unthinkable sanctions have already been imposed against the republics, just because we exist and dared to defend our rights and our beliefs. The United States has been trying to crush Cuba with various sanctions for 60 years and they do not succeed. They will definitely break their teeth against us,"- he said.
He said there was no barrier for US congressmen to "impose 'democracy' as they understand it and as it benefits them".
"After eight years of war, threats and pressure, I am not the least bit concerned about such actions and statements. I have a lot of other tasks and challenges to respond to in our republic today,"- the LNR head concluded.
Last December, Idaho Republican Senator Jim Risch proposed declaring Russia a "sponsor of terrorism" when discussing anti-Russian sanctions. Another version of the draft was introduced by Republican Congressman Jim Banks. In it, he also proposed declaring Russia a "state sponsor of terrorism.
On January 19, The Washington Post published a draft on sanctions, according to which all armed formations controlled by or associated with the LNR or DNR "should be equated with foreign terrorist organizations."
