OREANDA-NEWS. Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte said that the country will not buy the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus, even if it is approved by the European Medicines Agency.

According to Ingrida Šimonyte, "the country's portfolio consists of a number of vaccines that are either already registered, or are in the registration process, or may be registered in the near future." She added that she is sure that Lithuania does not need to buy the Sputnik V vaccine, given this.

Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign in Lithuania, the first dose of the vaccine has already been received by 78.8 thousand people, or 2.82% of the population, the second dose - 48.1 thousand, or 1.72%. Secondary vaccination is expected by 30.7 thousand people. In total, 127 thousand doses of vaccines were used out of 145.7 thousand received.

The Ministry of Health constantly reports on the progress of vaccination and the volume of supplies of vaccine against COVID-19 to Lithuania. According to the Ministry of Health, since December, 128.7 thousand doses of BioNTech and Pfizer vaccines, 6 thousand doses of the pharmaceutical company Moderna and 12 thousand AstraZeneca have been received. Due to bad weather conditions, the eighth batch of BioNTech and Pfizer vaccines has not yet been delivered to Lithuania from Germany by plane.
