Lithuania has banned the entry of cars with Belarusian license plates

OREANDA-NEWS Lithuania, following Latvia, has been banning the entry of cars with Belarusian registration plates since July 18, the LRT (Lithuanian Radio and Television) portal reported with reference to the country's customs department.
"From 0.00 (coincides with Moscow time) on July 18, 2024, passenger cars with Belarusian registration numbers will not be allowed into the territory of the European Union. The ban on entry into the EU applies to all cars, regardless of the nationality of their owner or driver," the message says.
Until August 16, citizens of Belarus with a valid permit to enter or stay in Lithuania can enter the country for personal purposes, if the car is not intended for sale.
The Customs Department informs that passenger cars with Belarusian registration numbers are required to leave Lithuania before January 18, 2025, from that day on, their stay in the country will be considered illegal up to the threat of confiscation.
Earlier, the Latvian State Revenue Service reported that since July 16, persons with vehicles registered in Belarus - passenger cars - have been banned from entering the European Union through checkpoints on the border of Latvia with Belarus and Russia. The restriction does not apply to cars of official delegations and diplomatic missions.
